Stony Creek is excited to begin building our very own community garden.This garden will serve as a hands-on learning space for our students and a valuable source of fresh fruits and vegetables for our families. We’re looking for volunteers to assist with:

• Filling raised garden beds with soil

• Planting seeds and starter plants

• Pulling weeds and preparing the space for growth

In addition to the garden, we also need help relocating our “Stony Creek” fence sign, made from colorful plastic cups arranged through chain-link fencing to create a fun and welcoming design.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania needs a group of volunteers to paint the Conestoga Wagons (inside and out) at Camp Haven. We will also have wood chips to be spread in that unit.  The number of volunteeers will determine our ability to complete the project as well as how much supplies to purchase.  Thank you for your consideration.

Volunteers are needed at the Jewish Family Service Mobile Food Pantry located at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.  They will pack food in bags and load it into cars. Volunteers will be on their feet and outside during our pantry. Bilingual volunteers welcome.

Volunteer Day at Kula Kamala – Campus & Garden Cleanup

Join us for a meaningful and refreshing day of service at the beautiful Kula Kamala Yoga Foundation campus — a nonprofit organization dedicated to community wellness, education, and spiritual growth.

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back, spend time in nature, and experience the heart of what we do. We’ll focus on light garden duties and a general cleanup of the property — simple, grounding work in a peaceful, welcoming setting.

• A refillable water bottle

• Feel free to bring your own gloves if you prefer; otherwise, gloves will be supplied.

• Adequate outdoor attire (comfortable and weather-appropriate)

• Closed-toed shoes for safety

We’re looking for volunteers to help with deep, detailed indoor cleaning to create a fresh, healthy environment for our Club Kids.

They're all critical life skills, and we seek experts in these and other fields to share them with our clients during our Life Skills day programming, between 10am-11am. If you're a doctor, nurse, accountant, therapist, personal trainer, or other professional, and have a life skill you'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you!

We need your help to make Camp shine! Join us for a day of cleanup, painting, weeding trail clearing, wood splitting and a few other projects that will help get Camp in great shape.

Please arrive by 9:00am so we can kick off the day together

Optional Continental Breakfasts: Served at 8:00 AM for early arrivals _ Please RSVP if you'd like breakfast here at camp.

Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

What to Expect:

Job Sign-Ups: Available on-site (must be here to sign up for job)

What to Wear: Dress for the weather and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

What to Bring: A State ID card (driver's license) for our Background check. Water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen.

All volunteers must sign a South Mountain YMCA Camps Hold Harmless Agreement

Adults (18+) must bring a valid Driver's license for a background check, as we will have campers on site.

Join us as we reset the kids' play zone and community garden.

1 -Wood chip in the kids’ Play area- Using the provided Wheelbarrow and tools, the volunteers will move the Donated Wood chips to the back area of the garden, the kid's play zone. All wood chips should be raked and spread over the entire area.

2- Create a stone border around the herb garden.  Using the provided gloves, the volunteers will spread out landscaping fabric to create a weed barrier and move small stones and create a border around the already existing herb garden.

3- Manage Compost – Gardens often create a significant amount of lawn waste, which we recycle by turning it into compost. To ensure the compost remains healthy, it requires continuous management. This means that the organic materials need to be flipped and moved monthly. Volunteers will be provided with the necessary tools to turn and move the compost pile. Adding this compost to the garden will introduce helpful bacteria, which can improve food production and reduce expenses.

Join the Children's Home of Reading for hands-on, outdoor projects, including:

- Wash windows and doors, walls and outside the buildings with the pressure washer.

- Sweep the stairwells in all buildings.

- Weed flowerbeds and prepare for fall planting.

- Pick up trash and sticks around the property.

- Wash the vans and cars inside and outside.

- Paint project:  outside shed, prime doors and windows for decals.

- Install privacy window cling in cafeteria and other places throughout residential.

Join the City of Reading for a morning paint project! We will be painting the bridge and guard rails behind RACC, covering graffiti.

Join Habitat for Humanity in a local home build. Volunteers will be doing hands-on tasks including, but not limited to, framing, siding, roofing, painting, landscaping, drywall installation, and trim. 

**Exact location of the jobsite will be shared with volunteers closer to the project date. The jobsite will be in the Reading Area**
