The Tocqueville Society is a leadership giving and recognition program that exists to foster, promote and recognize the vital importance of community commitment and personal giving at an exceptional level. The Society honors Alexis de Tocqueville, the Frenchman who wrote so enthusiastically of the American spirit of volunteerism and effort for the common good. Members of the Tocqueville Society generously contribute $10,000 or more on an annual basis.
United Way of Berks County’s 134 individuals/couples contributed more than $2 million during the 2014 annual campaign. We are privileged to rank second in membership nationwide when compared to likesized communities. Additionally, we are pleased that 85% of our Tocqueville members are Loyal Contributors who have been giving to the United Way for ten or more consecutive years.
