One-To-One

Description
The One-To-One mentoring program is the cornerstone of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Berks County, PA. A positive adult role model is matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister. They meet for an average of 8-10 hours per month (minimum of four hours) for at least one (1) year. The Big, the Little, and the Little's parent decide on what the outings are and when they occur, with guidance and support from Big Brothers Big Sisters professional staff. Tremendous flexibility exists with this proven program offering.

Volunteer Should Provide
The first step in the application process is a 10- to 15-minute phone orientation. After that, we will send the application to the volunteer candidate which includes references. We perform background checks on all of our volunteers including criminal background, CHILDLINE, and -- if required -- FBI fingerprint checks. Volunteers are also required to attend Volunteer Training. An interview and home assessment will also be conducted prior to acceptance as a One-To-One volunteer Big.
