In order to make the October 2023 Walk our best yet, we need passionate volunteers to join our Planning Committee which meets monthly by Zoom and in-person. We have opportunities for volunteers in the areas of recruitment, logistics, and marketing. Contact us anytime about volunteering opportunities.  

From 05/24/2022 to 12/31/2022

Due to increased numbers of seniors requiring meals on wheels, there is a need is for volunteers to deliver meals to seniors who are homebound due to illness, recovery, or disability. As a delivery driver, you are the direct contact between an isolated senior and Berks Encore. Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up meals from one of six (6) sites, and generally be available at least one (1) day weekly or monthly Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 am and noon. Pick-up sites for home-delivered meal routes are located in Douglassville, Fleetwood, Mifflin, Reading, Strausstown, and Wernersville. Help is needed at all locations.

Looking for artists, musicians, fitness instructors, yoga instructors, mindfulness/meditation instructors, etc. to share their talents and insights with individuals living with mental illness or dual diagnoses. As many of our residents do not have the means available to go to live shows and classes, we are hopeful to bring the fun to them! We have plenty of space available both indoors and outdoors for artist set-up. Artists of all ages welcome. We ask that anyone under the age of 18 be accompanied by an adult.

The clinic nurse is a vital member of the Specialty Medical Clinics team. The nurse helps to keep the clinic running smoothly, takes and records vitals, obtains data collection needed, escorts patients to treatment rooms, prepares rooms between appointments, and helps to create a welcoming and friendly environment at our Outpatient Center.

Responsibilities:

Maintain patient confidentiality.

Greet patients at the front desk or in the waiting room.

Take vitals according to the needs of the clinic:  height, weight, HR, BP, Head circumference. Record on patient information sheet.

Make patient and family comfortable in the treatment room.

Prep treatment room prior to each appointment and sanitize space after each appointment.

Bring patient to Clinic Coordinator for check out when necessary.

Complete any laundry as needed.

Help families to complete surveys and collect organizational data as required.

Other duties as needed to support clinic functions.

Volunteer as an individual or group at our fun and celebratory 5K events held each November and May! The 5K volunteer helps out in a variety of ways during our fall and spring 5K events. Volunteer to help set up and tear down, assisting at the registration table, directing people to parking, helping at the start/finish lines, helping the girls to prepare for the race, serving post-race refreshments, course marshals, etc. There is so much joy in being a part of our 5K celebrations!

Habitat for Humanity of Berks County ReStore Volunteering allows you to have fun and make a difference while giving you the flexibility to choose your own schedule. You can work as little as three hours a month or as much as several times a week. Volunteer by yourself or come with a group of friends and coworkers. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old. The ReStore is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 6pm. The ReStore Colossus volunteer will help unload donations from the truck as well as from customers dropping them off and picking them up.

The ReStore is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 6pm. The ReStore Facotum is a volunteer willing or able to do any assignment given to them. This is the perfect assignment for you if you want to help but don't know or care what exactly you'd like to do. We can put you to work!

The Purification Specialist will clean donations as they come in and make sure items on the sales floor are dusted and clean.

The Strategic Placement Guru will help the ReStore manager create displays and end caps to elevate items in the store.

The ReStore Upcycle Visionary will take items from the store and give them new purpose and show customers how they can do the same.

A zone specialist has (or acquires) knowledge about a specific area of the store...building supplies, furniture, lighting-who will make the area their own and help customers with any inquiries about that area.

Volunteer tasks include: Prepare mailings, inventory and label brochures, copy NAMI course manuals, copy NAMI program flyers, copy resource information for community events, sort and fold NAMI t-shirts and additional tasks may be added as needed. Bilingual helpful.

Help keep the kids skills sharp this Summer by being a Tutor for the children at the Second Street Learnng Centers Tuesdays through Thursdays. Hours during the day are flexible.

Answer crisis hotline calls and text line communications from survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, assist clients of our Safe House with signing in or out of Safe House, help clients with basic needs, etc.

Attend Health & Volunteer fairs on behalf of Safe Berks, answer questions, explain our services, etc.

From 06/20/2019 to 09/05/2023

Volunteers open and sort and repack boxes of donations. If able, load and unload furnture. Hours are anytime 8 AM- 12 Noon Tu, Wed, Th, and Fr.

From 11/01/2018 to 08/25/2023

Provide instruction to interested consumers in the hospital setting or fashion items for the consumer's use in the comfort of your own home. Crocheted or knitted items and fabric for wheelchair as well are suggestions.
